Modernising a University ERP: PeopleSoft to Oracle Cloud
A state university replaced a heavily customized PeopleSoft environment with a phased Oracle Cloud strategy while reducing cost and improving student experience.
Challenge
The institution was running a 12-year-old PeopleSoft Campus Solutions environment that was deeply customized and approaching end-of-support risk. Manual workarounds, disconnected data, and an aging portal were slowing the registrar, financial aid, and student services teams.
Approach
EvoTech ran a structured discovery effort to catalog more than 340 customizations, assess integration dependencies, and prioritize what should be retired versus rebuilt. The team designed a phased migration: finance first, then HCM, then student-facing components, with a parallel-run model to reduce cutover risk.
Results
- Migration completed in 18 months, three months ahead of plan.
- 94 percent of customizations were eliminated or replaced by standard cloud capabilities.
- Annual IT cost reduced by 35 percent.
- Student portal NPS improved from 28 to 67.
